Laëticia, enchanted :) I grew up in the family haberdashery run by my mother and grandmother, surrounded by coils and buttons that I had to inventory for long hours. I spent my life drawing but sewing caught up with me when I received a sewing machine for my birthday. During my business BTS, I created a first business, I sold clothes on myspace (raise my hand if you were there too!). After my studies, I joined a show company for whom I realized the costumes.
And then in 2010, after the birth of my son, I put my workshop in the very place of the haberdashery where I grew up. It started small, and in 2015, a big turning point, I opened my website. Since we went from 2 to 4 to 6 to finally become a team of 12 people who work year -round around this completely crazy project.
La Bobine à Pois is a nod to the coils of my childhood, and to my passion for polka dot fabric, this round and graphic motif and which alone represents my universe. A nod to my atypical journey, to this originality and this grain of madness that pleases my customers!
The notion of collective has been very important since the beginning of the adventure, so here is our (shock) team:

All stages of manufacturing and marketing our products are carried out by us. The bags are assembled in our Issoire workshop (63500) and accessories in our Clermont-Ferrand (63000) and Besse (63610) shops.

This is a legitimate question : we are talking about “committed” leather goods and we use imitation leather which is a plastic coated canvas (therefore made from petroleum). Why not have opted, like others, for cork, apple leather or other natural alternative leathers?
We have tested all these materials , we regularly use cork as a "decorative" application but the reason why we have not changed our material is durability over time.
Indeed, these materials are less polluting during manufacturing, that's a fact, but they are less durable over time: tearing, wear from friction... You shouldn't believe it, but we put them to the test our hand bags ! Solidity is therefore not an option.
Our vision of sustainability is to offer you solid, well-designed, repairable products and it is for this reason that we have taken the side, while waiting to find a natural material of resistance equivalent to our Italian imitation leather ( at a price which would not increase the price of our bags too much so that they remain accessible) to keep this very good quality of imitation leather which allows us, even years later, to be able to repair your products to give them the lifespan longest life possible.

No obsolescence planned with us ... Before offering you our products, the materials are tested, in order to ensure the most durable products as possible. Our bags are designed to be repairable: we provide a solution to each problem, whether your bag is 6 months or 3 years old, so that it has one life as long as possible.

Animal products, no thank you! We have been making bags since 2010 and we can attest that we can do without it and offer quality products.
It is obvious that we can always do better, but with la Bobine à Pois, we are convinced that each effort matters, the whole thing is to be in action and always do a little more. This is why we have implemented certain actions that are important to us:
For our (beautiful) materials, we get as close as possible, in order to limit our carbon footprint. Buildings, curls, straps, labels, fabrics of our patterns and liners, spun from recycled plastic bottles are sourced in France. Other supplies such as imitation leather, thread, Oeko-Tex cotton or zippers come from Italy, Spain and Turkey.
For your shipments, the recyclable and reusable packaging comes from Pocheco, a French company at the top issue of ecological transition! For deliveries in Clermont-Ferrand, we work with green parcels, an eco-responsible service.
All of our premises and workshops are provided in green, citizen and local electricity thanks to Enercoop.
1% of our turnover is donated to associations. In 2021, we chose the SEA Sheperd for the preservation of the oceans, L214 for animal protection, and Wings of the Ocean, for the collection of waste.
